Wooting off

Need another reason to spend money? Or to dream of spending money? I introduce : Woot.

Every day at midnight they update with a great deal on some incredible product. First come, first choice.

And the real fun? the random Woot-offs. Like they are having now. Wooting off goes like this:

- log into site and see flashing lights? Its a Woot off.
- All products are first come first served.
- Once a product sells out, another goes on sale. Who knows how long or how many each has in qty.
- There is a random "Bag of Crap" its a $1. If you ever see it, buy it. Fables tell of amazing prizes shipped to your house for winning a BOC.

I love Wooting, however I usually take too long to decide.

I love hockey

Its no secret to anyone who knows Jay or I that we love hockey; more specifically, the Blackhawks. It can get pretty draining on a bank account, and a body to be as dedicated fans as I wish I could be.

Todays game versus the Detroit Red Wings at the United Center reminded me why I love hockey. I could have been alone ( I wasnt), the Hawks could have lost in terrible fashion ( they didnt) and I still would have walked away beaming. Games like today renew my faith in Hockey.

I love Baseball, but I dont feel the same way at Wrigley as I do cheering during the anthem, screaming at every shot on goal, racing nerves during penalty kills, and my favorite chanting "detroit sucks" any chance i can get.

Nothing makes me happier than putting on a jersey, sitting 3 stories up , and not wanting to miss a thing.

I love Hockey.

October BookClub book: Dracula.

I have an amazing book club. We all have various interests and have great conversations. We read a book a month, and Ill post my review here after every meeting.

This month we read Bram Stoker's Dracula

I am a fan of the classics, so reading this book was refreshing to me. I loved Stoker's suspenseful form, and his really descriptive, illustrative moments. The feminist in me gets very angry at most times reading it, but in the end; I was pleased with the Stoker's attempt at being more forward for his time.

I was seriously creeped out by a lot of it, the descriptions, and the changing scenes gave me chills. I really had never read novels like this before, and i surprisingly enjoyed it.

Akeelah and the Bee

Every day I walked into a Starbucks last year, they pushed this movie at me. I forgot for some reason about it. Tonight, I was sitting around doing wedding craft stuff and I saw this was playing on cable.

What a fantastic movie. It tells the story Akeelah Anderson, a young girl from a disadvantaged school who has a knack for words. Its really inspirational, and really a sweet film. I highly recommend it.

Not only is the movie fantastic, but the soundtrack is a fabulous addition.

My favorite saying is a motif in the movie:

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same."

delayed concert review - how my favorite artist changed

I have spent most of my adult, music loving life ( aka HS - now) LOVING Ben folds. Everything he did, his live shows, and hanging on to every ep, cd, and dvd he released

About a month ago, I saw Ryan Adams and the Cardinals at the Chicago theater. Im sure the amazing, stellar performance from top to bottom helped this along the way, but i realized something.

I love Ryan Adams more

This concert was epitome of my musical taste. Its like everyting else i call a "favorite", DMB, Robert Randolph, Ben Folds, Black Crowes....... Is a circle around the amazing music that Ryan Adams and the Cardinals produce.

I may sound crazy. This has been almost a mourning process for me. Its not like I hate Ben Folds now, its just that hes not my #1 anymore. Its like a part of who i am has changed. I think some of you who love music like i do can understand my struggle.

that being said, go pick up their new cd, it rocks my house.

back at day one

I did fantastic through an entire weekend of not complaing. I worked a long wedding..., had a weekend of things i *could have* complained at....

and then the stomach flu hit. I just threw in the towel. Im back at Day one today.
